COMMISSIONING A BESPOKE SCULPTURE

If you’re interested in commissioning a new piece, I offer a collaborative process designed to bring your vision to life. It begins with a free initial consultation (travel dependent), where we can discuss your ideas, outline a brief, and consider your budget.

Following this, I enter the design phase — exploring ideas and concepts, for which a design fee applies. We then meet again to review initial designs and discuss timeframes, costs, and next steps. I’ll provide a full written proposal, including all specifications, terms, and conditions.

Once we’ve refined the details and agreed to proceed, we’ll finalise a commission agreement to confirm the project and terms. A typical payment structure requires a 50% deposit to begin. Throughout the making process, you are welcome to visit the studio or receive photo updates — or, if you prefer, you can wait to see the final piece revealed. The remaining balance is payable upon completion.

To help with the commissioning process, it’s useful to consider the following:

1. An approximate budget

2. A general sense of scale (not essential but helpful)

3. Whether the work is for permanent indoor/outdoor installation or designed to be moveable

4. Any relevant timescale, deadline, or special event

5. If there are existing pieces or series you feel drawn to for inspiration
